Mr. Jackson
I am originally from Michigan and went to Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI. I graduated with a Biology major & Teaching Science minor while playing college lacrosse and studying abroad in India, Hawaii and northern Michigan. I earned my Masters of Chemistry Education from Western Governors University in 2021.
During my teaching career I had the honor of coaching high school lacrosse, middle school soccer, and leading numerous clubs and activities. I taught middle school science in North Carolina for 9 years in the Fayetteville area. Alongside teaching, in 2010-16, I opened up an outdoor, on-location portrait photography business as a creative outlet to teaching. In 2016 we moved to Oregon to help start a home school based charter school alongside my wife. We moved to Travelers Rest in 2021 and began starting our family home with Josiah (8), Liam (6) and Titus (5).
I have always been a teacher, starting as early as middle school, volunteering as a tutor and special needs aid. I have passion to teach every student and prepare them for their future, no matter the path they desire. I believe when children feel they have a successful life path they become determined and self motivated. Often they just need someone to direct their path, and he loves helping in this capacity. During my free time I enjoy spending time with family, cooking, Cross fit, F3, home projects, getting his AirBnB ready for guests, exploring nature, and helping others. My happy place is Lake Jocassee.
