For the safety of all students, medication should NOT be sent with a student on the school bus. Any medication needed at school must be brought in by the parent/guardian.
All medication, both prescription and over the counter, given during school hours MUST be in the pharmacy container or original packaging. Your pharmacist will be happy to prepare two labeled containers for any prescription medication; one for school and one for home.
A completed medication form MUST be signed by both the child’s provider and a parent/guardian before a medication can be given at school. A labeled prescription bottle is not sufficient. This includes short rounds of medication such as antibiotics and eye drops. Forms are available in the health room or attached below.
There is a standing order for Tylenol/Motrin that allows the nurse to administer the medication with parent approval. Excessive need for these medications will require a written physician order.
All medication must be picked up at the end of the school year by a parent/guardian or responsible adult. Medications not picked up will be disposed of.
Medication orders expire at the conclusion of each school year. New orders will be needed when school starts in the fall. It is your responsibility to obtain a new order; however, please contact me with any questions or concerns you may have. I am happy to help!
