Europe

Most universities in Europe outside the UK accept applications directly from students. These universities take a wide variety of secondary school degrees/reports and are used to processing applications from a variety of sources. Some of these universities require exams if you are not from the country where you are applying, but SAT scores are appreciated by many as a means of comparing a student with other international applicants. In each of these cases, the universities should be contacted directly and early to receive a list of requirements. Consult with your Academic Advisor about schools of interest.

A few points to consider:

  • Germany has high and specific entrance requirements and application processes.
  • The Netherlands is very welcoming of international applications and may require exams.
  • Scandinavia provides generous financial support for EU passport holders.
  • American (or other private) universities in Europe are very welcoming of GS graduates.

Students especially interested in studying at university in Europe are highly encouraged to do their research early (grades 10 and 11), be in communication directly with universities of interest, and keep your Academic Advisor well informed in the process. This can mean a good deal of back-and-forth, so starting early gives us all a better chance.
