June
*6/6 - GHS Kickoff & Expectations (w/ mentors)
6/13 - Getting Started - DecidED, Corsava, Values Exercise, etc.
June Meeting Topics
–Talk about your own college experiences. What did you like? What do you wish you knew?
–What has your career path been like? Are there unique careers that might be worth exploring?
–Discuss “fit” – academic, social, and financial – with your student. What are their college must-haves, nice-to-haves, don’t-wants? Complete Corsava together or have them complete it on their own and talk about it later.
–Log into DecidED together to get a feel for the platform.
–Ask students to avoid NHSSS or any other “pay-to-play” programs.
–Plan for test prep. Do they want to take the ACT or SAT? Do they need to? Many of our scholars apply test optional, but some schools are returning to a requirement. We’re happy to help scholars determine if they should test prep and connect them with a tutor.
