If you don't have any screens, try a strainer. Go to "How To" Bowl for instructions.

Cut out a hole in the center of the paper plate, so your face can become a part of the mask.
You can also cut out a hole in the center, cut and attach ears, and you got yourself an animal headdress!

Here is another way to tell a story...
Puppets!
You can try creating all of the different ways of making a puppet, or just one or two.
You can also try creating just one charcter or many
and put on a puppet show!
It can be people, animal, or made up.
It can be people, animal, or made up.
Example: I want the beak and wings of the bird to move, the tail and head I am not sure yet.
Artist Tip: Tape the parts you don't want to move first. Then tape the stick on well and sturdy.
Example: I decided I want the tail and head to be still, so I taped those together well.
Artist Tip: make sure you have enough space on all sides, so the hole will not rip.
Artist Tip: If you don't have a hole puncher, you can use anything that's pointy and sharp to make a hole.
Artist Tip: Make sure it is wound tight and loose enough so that the parts are movable just right.
Example: I have 4 sticks because there in the main holder on the body, 1 each for the wings and one for the lower beak.
Here is an idea for an extension of this lesson...

You can also find lots of other art activity ideas at the below website.
It is divided into age groups and varied enough for all different skill levels.
Artist Tip:
Construction paper or any kind of paper works, but the thicker the better.
Less sticky the tape, the better, so it will be easy to peel.
Artist Tip:
Overlap and criss-crossing the tape will give you more you can color in.
Artist Tip:
Make sure it's just a little bit of water and you keep dipping a little bit at a time. Or the paper will rip.
Artist Tip:
If you don't have chalk, you can use crayons or markers, but without the water.
Artist Tip: make sure it is chalk, so it can be washed away to make another one.

If you don't have markers you can also use colored pencils as well as paints. If you have collage materials like construction paper or recycled paper, you can use those too!
Fold the paper in half.
Go to Step 4 if you want large size.
Go to Step 2 if you want smaller size.
Fold it again and cut it in half.
I used 4 pieces of letter size paper here, which gave me 8 pieces.
Stack each pieces of paper like this- one page facing up, the other page facing down.
Glue each page together at the fold and around the edges .
Keep going until all of your pages are glued together into an accordion shape.
If you don't want a hard cover, you are done at Step 5.
If you do want a hard cover, trace the front end and back end to the thick paper and cut.
Make two- one for the front of the book, the other for the back of the book.
Glue the cover to the front end and the back end, and you have an accordion book!
