Lay your second sheet of white paper on top of your drawing.

You should be able to see your drawing right through the paper like this.

What does your animal look like from the back?

This is really tricky but try to trace your drawing, so the front and back are the exact shape and size.

Draw the details of your animal's back side.

When you finish, you will have two drawings. The front of your animal and the back of your animal.

What colors is your animal?

Color your entire animal with colored markers.

Color both sides, the front and the back.

With a scissor, cut out front and back sides of the animal.

Then to turn both of your drawings into one drawing....

Put one on top of the other and staple them together.

Staple many, at the edge, and leave one section open for stuffing.

To make our animals 3D,

we are going to stuff it with recycled paper or anything that you have for scraps.

For hard to get to places, you can use a stick or something like a stick to reach and push.

Once your animal is stuffed, staple up the open area.

Now your animal is a stuffed animal you can keep and hug!

Choose a color.

Fold the paper in half, the tall way.

Cut the paper where the fold is.

You will get two long pieces.

Choose one of the papers and fold it in half.

At the fold, cut out a skinny rectangle in the center.

Artist Tip: make sure you leave plenty of space at the end.

When you open it up, it becomes an eye mask!

The rectangle space is where your eyes will go.

If you don't have color paper that you need, you can always use a color marker to make your own.

I needed red to show that it's pasta sauce.

I colored in white paper with red,

then cut out the shape I wanted,

and glued it on the mask.

You can also glue on the real pasta!

Artist Tip: put a puddle of glue, and let it dry before trying on your mask, or it will fall off.

You can also make your own pasta with color paper.

I am a fusilli pasta hero.

So I cut small strips of yellow paper,

Rolled the strip onto a pen or pencil.

There are other pasta shapes you can make with paper,

like spaghetti, ditalini and lasagna.

When you have all your pasta shapes,

you can attach them to your mask with a stapler.

To wear the mask,

Cut two long string or ribbon

and tape it to the back side of your mask,

one on each side.

Tie it around your head, and you are good to go!

Choose a color.

Fold the paper in half.

Cut the paper where the fold is.

You will get two long pieces.

You can add matching designs as your face mask.

To wear the arm band, attach a piece of tape to the back of each arm band.

You now have pasta power!

Fold a piece of paper in half and cut out half a circle at the fold.

Fold and cut another circle in a different color, a bit smaller.

Overlap them together, and glue.

This type of screen works great since it is adjustable and doubles up. All screens are also easily washable.

If you don't have any screens, try a strainer. Go to "How To" Bowl for instructions.

Shred Shred Shred the paper into the bowl.

Artist Tip: the smaller you shred, the better. It will be easier on the blender.

Drizzle Drizzle Drizzle water.

Enough to make every part of the paper wet and a bit mushy.

Put the paper in the blender.

Drizzle Drizzle Drizzle water and Blend Blend Blend.

Artist Tip: you may have to do small batches, and keep adding water. Or the blender will get stuck.

When it's done, it should look mushy like this.

Put the screen on top of an open bin or the sink.

Take the paper pulp out of the blender, smooth it on top of the screen.

Spread Spread Spread evenly and packed.

Make sure there are no holes... unless you want holes :)

Squeeze Squeeze Squeeze out the ALL the water.

You can do it with your hands, and/or use a tool that covers the entire paper pulp and Roll Roll Roll.

At the last step, use a towel to squeeze out the last bit of water with your hands or tool.

Artist Tip: sometimes bits will tear off. Mush it back in, and smooth evenly again.

I used a brown bag and white paper towel rolls.

You can use different mix of papers or choose your colors.

It doesn't have to be flowers or a map, you can draw anything on your special paper.

Take the paper pulp out of the blender and put in strainer.

Squeeze out the water using a large spoon.

Use your fingers to Press Press Press more water out.

Use your hands and Squeeze Squeeze Squeeze.

Take a sheet of saran wrap and lay it inside the bowl, enough so edges stick out.

This will make it easy to get the paper pulp out of the bowl once dry.

Mush Mush Mush Press Press Press the paper pulp inside the bowl evenly.

Let it Dry.

Once dry,

Flip and Tap Tap Tap. You've got yourself a Paper Bowl!

If you have paints,

you can paint designs.

Add food coloring

while blending in the blender.

Draw on paper with a pencil.

Artist Tip: If you're using colored paper, use a light colored pencil.

Draw over your pencil drawing with the glue bottle.

While the glue is wet,

Pinch and Sprinkle,

to get the extra off.

You can collage or draw eyes, nose mouth, and attach ears.

Cut a hole for your eyes so you can see.

Paper Plate Mask

Cut out a hole in the center of the paper plate, so your face can become a part of the mask.

You can also cut out a hole in the center, cut and attach ears, and you got yourself an animal headdress!

Packaging paper can be rolled up into a snail shell to turn into a snail.

Even your pet can change into another animal!

Materials:

Construction paper or any paper you may find

Scissors

Tape

Stapler

Cut a piece of paper into strips.

You can use as many as you like.

Roll and tape it into your head size.

For my head, it was 2 strips 11" long.

With the other strips, you can...

Staple or tape and bend in interesting ways.

Cut in interesting ways.

See where your scissors will take you.

This is where my scissors, stapler and tape took me.

You can also add other details, and let it go farther than just your head.

Here is a dinosaur headdress that extends down the back.

Materials:

Egg carton

Scissors

Markers or Paint

Glue

Any color paper

String

Hole puncher or anything sharp to make a hole

Cut 1 egg container from the carton.

Add color using markers or paint.

I wanted to add whiskers, so I cut strips with a scissor.

What details will you add?

Glue details.

Cut some string, long enough to tie around to the back of the head.

Punch a hole on each side of the nose.

Put the string through the hole.

Artist Tip: The cut curved part of the egg carton should be at the bottom of your nose to fit well.

Snug fit your new nose, tie the string at the back of your head.

What Animal Am I?

Materials:

Choose a character you want to create.

It can be people, animal, or made up.

Sketch with a pencil.

Add color.

Cut the puppet's shape.

Flip the puppet over and tape the stick to the back.

And your puppet has come to life!

Artist Tip: Tape the parts you don't want to move first. Then tape the stick on well and sturdy.

Artist Tip: make sure you have enough space on all sides, so the hole will not rip.

I do not have paper fasteners at home, so I am going to use a wire tie to attach the movable parts.
