Getting Wild with the Arts! Greene County Arts Festival 2018
Greene County Arts Festival Events!
If you haven't heard, the Greene County Arts Festival is taking place on March 24th on campus and our theme this year is "Getting Wild with the Arts!" This FREE event allows the community to come and join with the student body in celebrating all facets of arts. We will have performances all day long, previews to the WMMS and WMHS spring performances, community performers, chalk drawings of famous art, food trucks, live clay throwing, a vintage car show, local vendors and artisans, and lots of fellowship and community gathering around all forms of art! Please click the link below to find applications to participate.
We will also be selling pre-sale tickets to our spring musical, Beauty and the Beast!
The cast of the musical will be giving a preview performance at 10:30am in the Performing Arts Center.
From 2:30pm-4pm, there will be a collage concert featuring choirs from multiple GCPS schools.
Come see what we have been working on in the performance arts!
Congratulations and we look forward to seeing you Tuesday for picking up your books, calendars, and informational sheets--or staying for the backstage meeting. We will definitely see you on Wednesday from 3:15-5pm for our first read through of the scripts. Please check your email for further information.

Lafayette Cause Night
In our efforts to raise roughly $10,000 to purchase a new sound board for the performing arts center, we will be hosting a Cause Night at Stanardsville's own Lafayette Inn on May 11th. Reservations are strongly encouraged and many of the cast of our show All Shook Up will be in attendance to serve you! Perhaps, you may even be serenaded! You can call and make reservations at 434-985-6345.
Spring Musical 2017!
Plan to come rock out with our cast and pit of the spring musical, All Shook Up! All Shook Up is a new musical comedy built around a number of songs made famous by Elvis Presley. It is not a biographical revue. The show takes place in 1955, somewhere in middle America, where one girl's dream and a surprise visit from a mysterious leather-jacketed, guitar-playing stranger help a small town to discover the magic of romance and the power of rock & roll. Among the 24 songs featured in the score are classics like "Heartbreak Hotel," "Love Me Tender," "Don't Be Cruel," "Can't Help Falling in Love," and of course the title tune.
You can purchase tickets at the main office previous to the show, at the doors, or at the tourism office. They are $8 for adults and $5 for children six and under. Show dates are: April 21-22 at 7pm and a matinee on April 23 at 3pm. There will be a fifteen minute intermission with snacks and drinks to purchase. The WMHS librarian will also be available with the book fair.
Greene County Arts Festival!
This year's Greene County Arts Festival is being held March 25, from 10am until 4pm. Performances from community members, students, the middle and high school spring musical casts, and informal "jam sessions" abound all day between the Performing Arts Center and the Gym. Professional and amateur artists will have booths and tents set up for creating and selling their work throughout the school. Over fifteen food trucks will be available in the cafeteria parking lot for food! An informational kiosk will be set up near the front office and main entrance of the building with student volunteers available to sign in performers, help visitors, and provide any assistance needed! The event will be using Guidebook, an app available on your mobile device, instead of programs this year; TVs will be found throughout the building providing schedule information and other helpful hints for navigating the day. Please, come and dive into the arts with us!
