September 14, 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians and Student-Athletes,

I hope this letter finds you and your family safe and healthy and that your summer was enjoyable. I wanted to provide an update on Fall Sports for the upcoming 2020-21 school year.

General Information

The following sports are scheduled to begin practice on Tuesday, September 29 - Varsity Boys and Girls Soccer, Varsity Boys and Girls Cross Country and Varsity Girls Tennis. These offerings are for students in grades 9-12 only.

As of today there has been no decision on interscholastic modified fall season for 7th and 8th grade students. Additional information will be provided to parents of 7th and 8th graders in the coming weeks.

NYSPHSAA (New York State Public High School Athletic Association) has postponed the season for the sports of Football, Volleyball, and Cheerleading until March 1, 2021. As of now, the winter sports season start date has been moved to November 30 and the spring sports season start date has been moved to April 19.

Girls Swimming has not received clearance to begin from Section One due to the lack of pool availability. Pools that typically host high school team practices and meets are not renting their facilities or permitting outside use at this time. Section One is reviewing when, and if, they will be able to offer girls swimming.

On September 4, schools received guidance from the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) that provided districts across the state a plan for the return to interscholastic athletics. The fall sports starting on September 29 will be operating under these guidelines.
