Main Stage Talks are like TED Talks, and act as an opportunity to share a story or experience that will inspire other members to take action and collaborate to make change. This category of sessions also includes Collaboration Main Stage Talks. Main Stage Talks vary in length and format, so please refer to the Session Introduction email you received from the SPC Events Team for the exact duration of your session.
Prepare the main points you’d like to make in your talk and identify how the topic of your story can be applicable to advancing sustainable packaging or combatting climate change. Main Stage Talks should be told in a narrative way.
Write down your script for your talk.
Create the visual aids based on the content of the talk (as opposed to basing your content on the visual aids).
If you would like to include a video, it needs to be no longer than 1 minute and match the style of the talk.
Memorize, rehearse, and time yourself.
Fact check any detail or claim that relies on external information. This can take the shape of something like a quote, anything with a number (dates, statistics, estimates, etc.), references to research, the findings of a study or a survey, and pretty much all general claims. Basically, if it can be checked, it should be checked.
You have the option of including slides for your Main Stage Talk. Please read through the instructions for preparing slides and submitting them by visiting the link below.
