The North Shore Farm and Food Coalition was initially formed in 2022 with funding support through 2024 from a USDA Urban Agriculture and Innovative Production Planning Project Grant (awarded to Green Beverly and New Entry Sustainable Farming Project). During this stage, our efforts were primarily focused on five densely populated urban communities on the North Shore: Beverly, Peabody, Salem, Danvers, and Lynn.
Many have produce, meat, seafood and food-goods available all year
North Shore CSA Resource Guide
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), provides an opportunity to purchase direct shares of local, seasonal produce (meats/seafood) from local farmers. In participating in a CSA, you receive fresh, weekly harvests, and also play a crucial role in a farm's ongoing success and sustainability. Although many CSAs won’t begin their harvest until late spring, many are open for share reservation.
Many grocery stores offer produce that is labled "local". Their definition of "local" can be within MA, New England or even Northeastern US. Please support our efforts to increase locally grown foods by asking store managers to offer more availability, including North Shore grown/raised/produced options.
North Shore Food Pantry Guide
Subsidized food sources are also available in several communities.
