Our member organizations (and so many other groups and individuals around the North Shore!) are hard at work improving our food system on a daily basis. As a coalition we look for ways to align efforts, share best practices and resources; whatever we can do to collaborate as we're stronger together.
Four key working groups are currently guiding our research and planning efforts:
Exploring the variety of growing spaces currently in operation, and identifying possible spaces for the future.
Collaborating with residents to learn about local food preference and access, as well as interest in growing their own food.
Exploring the production, aggregation, processing, and distribution of local food.
Following policy activity at the state and local level and supporting legislation that would strengthen our local food system.
These groups will likely shift over time as new priorities and opportunities are identified. For example, ongoing conversations around our sea-based food system may set the stage for an "oceans" working group in the future.
