Primary Talent Pool
K-3
The Primary Talent Pool (PTP) is intended to discover and nurture high potential learners so that these students may thrive in a setting of continuous progress.
The PTP typically represents the top 25% of the primary population. High potential learners are selected using a minimum of three pieces of evidence to assess the degree of potential or demonstrated gifted and talented characteristics and behaviors and determine the most appropriate service option.
Evidence may include:
Available formal test data
Checklist of behaviors
Continuous progress data
Parent Questionnaire
Anecdotal records
Collection of evidence demonstrating student performance
Diagnostic data
Services for PTP students are generally provided within the framework of the primary classroom; however, this does not preclude individual service options based on the individual needs of the child.
PLEASE NOTE: Inclusion in the Primary Talent Pool DOES NOT guarantee that a child will be formally identified as gifted and talented once he or she exits the primary program.
