The Approach

Students at the Green County A.E.C. must adhere to the policies set forth by the Green County Board of Education, Green County High School and/or Middle School with increased restrictions, deeper structure, and sharper focus for respecting others, work ethic, personal accountability, and for understanding the importance of rules and procedures. The A.E.C will make use of stronger classroom methods as a corrective response to foster personal growth, achievement, responsibility, and general student betterment.

Satisfactory Days

Each day students will be evaluated regarding their conduct and engagement. There is no downtime.

Students will receive a 0, 1, or negative point/s every 30 minutes and must have a conduct grade of 80% or higher to have a satisfactory day.

There are 15 evaluations each day and students must gain 12 points or more to achieve the 80% threshold.

Unsatisfactory days do not count toward placement time. That day must be repeated.

If a student falls below 60% on conduct and engagement that day is Failed and results in suspension and also for the following 2 days. A suspension adds 3 days to a students placement.

Two unsatisfactory days within five days results in a parent contact.

Three unsatisfactory days within five days results in a suspension. Again, with a suspension an additional three days will added to their placement.

A 10-day probationary period is implemented following a suspension.

Students cannot have unsatisfactory days during this time and will result in a suspension.

Virtual Attendance/Edgenuity

Students must also meet one of two criteria to have a satisfactory day.

Less than 15% idle time with online learning (85% engaged or more).

Or a minimum “Work Grade” of 85% or higher (based on available work time and assignments completed).
