District 6 Credit Information

University Credit

Courses taken for university credit count towards Horizontal Advancement. After taking a college-level course, please hang on to your university transcript and submit at the appropriate time while making a move on the pay scale. For more information about this process, please click here.

District 6 Credit - Out of District

Courses taken outside of District 6 that do not have the option for graduate credit can be submitted to the preapproval process. In order for an out of district course to be considered for District 6 Credit, the following minimum criteria must be met:

  • Course is taken off contract time

  • Course does NOT have the option for graduate credit

  • Course is a minimum of 7.5 hours of seat time

  • There is assigned work that is required to be completed outside of seat time

  • Preapproval form is submitted at least 2 weeks prior to the course start date

  • Direct supervisor approval

District 6 Credit - In-District

Some courses provided by District 6, off-contract time, will have the option to earn District 6 Credit. Typically courses offered during summer summits qualify for District 6 Credit. In order to receive credit for an In-District course:

  • Register for an appropriate course in PowerSchool (click here to see this summer's offerings)

  • Attend the course in entirety

  • Pay the fee (FREE FOR SUMMER 2022!)

    • $17 per half-day course (3.75 hours which equals 0.25 District 6 Credits)

    • $34 per full-day course (7.5 hours which equals 0.50 District 6 Credits)

  • Complete the assignment provided by the instructor and submit by the appropriate deadline
