GCSD VDI Access
What is VDI?
Virtual Desktop Interface (VDI) allows users to access a virtual Windows desktop through a non-Windows device (such as a Chromebook) This virtual environment also connects to the user's GCSD Windows profile and connected drives.
Who gets access to VDI?
Access to VDI is approved by the Technology Director and prioritized by need.
To request access, complete the "remote access" request at webhelpdesk.greececsd.org or email techhelp@greececsd.org
How to use GCSD VDI
(Standard HTML access method)
First determine from the Technology Department whether you are assigned to use the regular site (vdi.greececsd.org) or the secure site (secure-vdi.greececsd.org)
On your assigned site, click "VMWare Horizon HTML Access" in the lower right as shown.
If you are assigned the regular site:
For Username, enter your full GCSD email address (first.last@greececsd.org or flxxxxxx@greececsdstudent.org)
For Password, enter your GCSD WINDOWS Network password. (Not your email password) then click the green Login button
If you are assigned the secure site, first make sure you have the DUO multifactor app set up on your smartphone per directions provided by the technology department. Then on the secure site...
For Username, type in your firstname.last name
For AD Password, type in your GCSD Windows Network Password, not your email password, then click the green Login button.
One the next screen enter "1" then click Continue to send a multi-factor authentication to your phone
Confirm the log in on your phone
Click on one of the tiles which signify pools of VDI machines. Each pool has a different collection of Windows programs. You may be granted access to more than one pool based on your needs
You should now be be in a live VDI Windows session within a browser tab.
You can expand the view to full screen mode by clicking on the browser settings (3 vertical dots in the upper right --> Zoom --> [ ]). Hover in the upper center of the screen and click the x to exit full screen mode.
Use the pull out drawer on the left of the screen to access options such as entering a control-alt-delete and logging out.
