A food system is the processes, relationships, and people that allow our food to move from farm to market to fork to disposal. A food system encompasses the biological, health, social, political, economic, and environmental elements of food and agriculture. Since everyone eats and interacts with a food system, Nurturing Roots of Justice advances Michigan's place-based K-12 food systems education, underscored by climate change and environmental justice. This website contains background information under Learn and educator resources under Teach, equipping K-12 educators with the confidence and tools to integrate food systems topics into their classrooms.
