Kindergarten
Kindergarten is an important part of your child's educational journey and is designed to help prepare them for Grade 1. The curriculum is determined by Alberta Education and follows provincially mandated instructional hours. Grasslands Public Schools is proud to offer high-quality Kindergarten programs that promote the foundational skills of literacy, numeracy, and social and emotional learning through play-based learning opportunities. Our schools are open to all children and are committed to welcoming, caring, and safe environments and support the uniqueness of every child.
Your child can enter Kindergarten if they are not yet six years old on September 1 of the school year. Children who turn five years old on or before December 31 of the same year are eligible to register for Kindergarten.
Our programs run 2 full-days per week, with additional half-day Fridays scheduled in the AM. Your family can choose a Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs full-day program to best meet the needs of your child. There is no monthly cost to attend Kindergarten within any Grasslands Public School. We encourage you to register your child as early as possible to avoid any delays in September, especially if you have a preference in the days for attendance.
*You are required to provide a birth certificate or proof of citizenship for your child at the time of registration. If you require a new copy, the local registry office can assist you.*
