S4/5 moving into S5/6

Welcome to the main Options section for S4/5 pupils making subject choices to study in S5/6.  

This area has a wide selection of information, resources and links needed to make informed choices as you progress through Grantown Grammar School.  Please take the time to go through these sections in order to ensure you make the right choices to support your future career path.

S4/5 Pupils - you will be guided through this site over several weeks in school by Mr Wilson and the Guidance staff.  In this time you will be given tasks to do in and out of school.  This will create the opportunities for you to discuss your choices with all relevant parties to ensure you are fully supported with your decisions.

S4/5 Parents - please go through these sections with your child and engage in discussions to challenge their thoughts/opinions about their future.  We will hold an options information evening  on Thursday 13th February where we will take you through the process and options available.  There will be opportunities to discuss your child's Options with Mr Wilson and the Guidance team. 

Key Support Staff :

• Your Guidance teacher Mr Abenheimer or Mrs da Costa - speak to your guidance teacher if you have any questions about your options process

• Your subject teachers - speak to your subject teachers to ensure you know exactly their recommendations for progress into S5/6.  (This information is also available in your Gradebook)

• Mr Wilson - If you have any further questions that can not be answered by the staff detailed above, my door is always open.

OPTIONS TIMELINE

10th Feb - (STEP 1) - Introduction to the Options website

TASK - show your parents these resources and read through/discuss all the courses that are available to you.

10th Feb - (STEP 2) - Pathways planning and Initial Options

TASK - complete the pathways planning sheet and complete your initial options.  Share your initial options with your parents and ensure you have completed the online initial option form by Fri 21st Feb.

6th Mar - (STEP 3) - Final Options

TASK - Fill in the online Final Options Form.  Share your options with your parents.  Ensure you have selected all the subjects you wanted to choose.  Also, compare the levels you have chosen to study at with the recommended levels on Google Gradebook.  Complete this by Fri 21st Mar.

11th & 18th Mar - Tue Pm drop in session for Pupils and parents to ask questions about options.

21st Mar - FINAL OPTION FORM SUBMISSION

Further discussions may take place with pupils after this date if their are issues with class sizes, subjects or levels selected.
