What an adventure! Each day I will post a note and explain some of the assignments for the week. Please check this page daily.

As we look into continuing learning at home for the year I would like to suggest some must do activities (things your student should try to accomplish each day) and may do activities (things they may do if they have time). If you or your student are overwhelmed, only to do must do's. If your student is bored and needs more work, assign them so may do's.

Hola amigos! Some of you were right, I turned 29 yesterday! Sorry I wasn't as available to help, I took some time off to take Brooklyn to the doctor. She is growing just right. Hello friends! Today is my birthday! Any guesses how old I am? I have to take Brooklyn to the doctor for her checkup today so I might not be online all day long. If you have questions, be patient and I will answer them as soon as I can.

Tomorrow we will be doing an extra fun zoom meeting at 12:00. It will be very helpful to have a device like a phone or a tablet to play the game so ask your parents if you can borrow theirs or make sure yours is charged and ready to go. And don't forget about our last zoom meeting of the year on Friday! If you did not go pick up your bag yesterday be sure to stop by the school today. They are in the gym organized by your last name.

You have a new math review and I would like you to continue working on your environment movie. It can really turn out cool if you take your time!

We’ve made it! This is our last week of online learning. I will be posting assignments this week but if you haven't finished your Top Three that is your focus.

Everyone should go check these assignments to make sure you have turned them in and have received a grade. You should do well enough to at least earn a 2. I will be making phone calls to any student who hasn’t finished and isn’t currently set to receive a passing grade.

This week’s assignments will be more project based and will take all week to complete. You will not be getting new assignments each day for ELA or Science. If you get frustrated, feel free to email me and I would love to help you over zoom.

This week you should also be picking up your personal materials, end of the year packet, and gifts from the school. There will be a packet inside with a 4^th grade memory book, some fun coloring pages and a fun science art activity etc. These do not need to be turned in but they are fun projects you can complete in the coming weeks.

Families should come to the school gym anytime between 8am-2pm. Every student has a bag to pick up.

We will have a final class zoom meeting on Friday May 15^th at 12:00. Please do all you can to attend. This is our last chance to be together as a class and I would love to see you all. We will be doing our class awards ceremony and saying goodbye.

Thank you for all you have done to end this year the best way possible. It is not how I would have chosen to finish but I am so lucky to have had you this year. In case you have not yet heard, I will not be returning to Diamond Ridge Elementary next year. While I am so grateful to be able to stay home and take care of my baby girl, I am heartbroken at not returning to the Diamond Ridge community. I will miss you all so much! You have been the best class ever. Please tell me about any performances, games etc. you have in the future. I would love to support you when I can. I will always be your teacher and am always here to help.

This week we will begin a new project for language arts. It is going to be so fun! This assignment will last all week and is a big part of your grade. You will be researching all about one of the Utah counties. Watch the video, look at the google slide presentation and then fill out your graphic organizer as you learn about your county. You will also be finishing your Utah animals project in science. In math we will take our last assessment on area and perimeter today and then begin practicing problem solving with addition, subtraction and multiplication. Don't forget, as long as you are doing your best you will get a passing grade. If you don't do your work you will get an incomplete.

My dear friends, you may have heard we will not be returning to school this year. I am so heartbroken that we won't be able to be together in our classroom again. I miss you so much and am so sorry for all we will be missing out on doing together this year. I am hoping to plan a party for whenever this is all over so that we can be together as a class again. If you have any suggestions for how we can make the rest of this year still be an awesome end to 4th grade please let me know. I want you to know I love and miss you and love hearing from you each day. CREATE: Come up with several ideas, but pick the one you think is best.

It's April and it's Easter and it's spring! What a wonderful day! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. It was definitely one of my favorite weekend so far this year.

I hope you are finding a little bit of a routine with schoolwork. Just a reminder, you should be getting on our class website every morning to see a list of assignments. You should then head to google classroom to complete those assignments.

To clarify, the three assignments in ELA, math, and science each day are the priority. Any activities listed under “may do” are optional and should be done AFTER completing the “must do” activities. To receive a grade in the 4^th quarter will need to be completing these assignments each week. All assignments are due Friday. Friday’s are reserved to finish work and do some of the fun activities listed if time allows. I have provided a new table which will hopefully help keep you more organized with your assignments during the week. You can also find an updated schedule here if that is the format you and your student prefer.

You should be able to do many of the assignments without your parent's help. I am available via email every day to answer questions. We will also hold a class zoom meeting Monday from 2:00-3:00, Wednesday from 10:00-11:00 and Friday from 10:00-10:30. Monday and Wednesday I will teach, do an activity, and answer questions. Friday is reserved for questions on any of the assignments that you have not been able to finish.

• use facetime, zoom, google hang out etc. to read a picture book to your grandparent, cousin, or friend
• help your family plan the groceries for the week using a budget. You can look up the cost of items on Amazon, the Walmart or Smith’s app and even save them in a shopping cart. Can you plan enough food for the week staying in your parent’s budget? If you don’t know your parents’ budget try mine ($60 a week). Don’t forget to buy food for breakfasts, lunches and dinners and see if you already have some items in your pantry or fridge.

May do:

• look up a science video on netflix or youtube. Write down at least 5 things you learned. Or watch an experiment on youtube and recreate it. Bonus if the video you choose is about the water cycle, weather, rocks, fossils or environments we might find in Utah. Ideas: Bill Nye (youtube), The Magic School Bus (netflix or youtube), Our Planet (netflix), National Geographic (DIsney +). Good morning class! Happy Monday! Today is an exciting day. You might want to be up and ready around 10:00 this morning in case you hear or see anything strange outside your house. At 2:00 I will be hosting a class meeting on a new program called zoom. Click the link here:

This is also the beginning of a new week. We are all still figuring out how this learning at home thing will work so thank you for being patient as I change things and problem solve together.

You may have noticed last week that I started giving you some must do and may do activities. The must do items are things I want you to try to make sure you get done each day. The may do activities are more great learning activities but if you don’t have time to do them, that’s okay. I will put many of these things in our weekly schedule, however, I might make adjustments each day. That is why it is important that you check our class website every morning and read my message to know what to do.

A few reminders as we begin the week:

• You must turn in your assignments for Mrs. Johnson to be able to grade it.
• After you have turned it in Mrs. Johnson might make comments and give you a grade. Go back and look at my comments, respond, and then fix whatever I have asked you to.
• You should still be reading, taking AR tests, and doing ST math and Lexia.
