Environmental Print
What is environmental print?
Environmental print is the print of our every day life. It is everything from community safety signs to the logo on a candy bar. Recognizing environmental print is the most basic form of reading. Even before any of us could read we all new what the golden arches represented. The environmental print that we will be focusing on is community safety signs.
Every week we will post one or more videos introducing the signs that we will focus on this week. We will also include a link every week to printable signs that go along with that weeks video(s). We encourage you to print them off at home and use them to review that weeks signs each day.
May 18th to May 20th
For this last three days of school I want you to pull out all of the signs we have previously worked on and review. Also, as you go out for a drive or a walk make sure you look for these signs!
May 11th to May 15th
This week we are going to find things in our house that we can read because we recognize the symbols or the words on them. Check-out my video and then go see what you can find in your house that you can read!
May 4th to May 8th
This week we are going to review some of the signs we have learned this year. Check back for new videos added during the week.
April 27th to May 1
The lesson is again in three parts. The signs we are learning this week are Caution-Automatic Door, Elevator, and Danger-High Voltage.
April 20th to April 24th
The lesson for this week is in 3 parts. The signs we are learning this week are all common in places of work. We are learning Must Wear Gloves, Be Careful-Hot, and Employees Must Wash Hands Before Returning to Work.
April 13th to April 17th
This week the lesson is again in 3 parts. You can watch them all everyday, or you can spread them out across the week. Also, please use last week's review video as much as you would like.
April 6th to April 10th
This week I am including a review video. This will review the signs we have already learned this semester. Also, I am going to break the lesson up into 3 parts so that the videos aren't too long. The second and third part of the lesson should be posted by Tuesday.
