· When it is time to clean up they can put their paper in their cubby. Their papers go in the spot that is above their name.
8:55- transition to rug and do morning affirmations and pledge
Transition-every time they stand from rug or chairs
When I say “PLEASE STAND”
Students say “YES MA’AM” as a whole class choral response.
Then stand up and push in your chair and stay behind your chair
Transition
When I say “Walking No talking” then please walk to the rug
Sitting on the rug
We are going to use the term LEARNING POSITION.
Legs crossed, hands in lap, voices off, eyes on teacher, bodies facing the front
Morning Affirmations and the Pledge-Have students stand… “Please stand.” “Yes Ma’am” Say a line and have them repeat.
· I can do hard things. I choose to be happy. I believe in me. I am loved.
· Then stay standing, turn and face the flag, put right and over heart, to say the pledge of allegiance together. Most won’t know it at first. Just say it slowly so they can listen and after a few weeks they will catch on.
9:00-10:00 small groups (most of the first week will be using this time to learn the procedures and routines)
Using Hand Signals
· Instead of having student call out or raise their hand and wait to be called on, they can give a quick hand signal. The teacher can nod their head yes/no without having to distract the whole class.
· 1 finger- I need to go to the bathroom
· 2 fingers- I need a new pencil
· 3 fingers- I need a tissue
· 4 fingers- I need a drink of water
· 5 fingers- I have a question
Attention Getter
· Teacher says “Class, class”
· Students say “Yes, yes”
After they respond they are to get quiet and bring their attention back to the teacher. This could be if they are talking a lot on the rug or you asked them to talk to a friend on the rug about something in the lesson. It gets the attention back to you.
Signal to respond
Hold up your hand to show the class
to stop
Finger on brain to think
Snap or click for class to answer all together
Water Bottles
· Stay on desk
· Can get a drink during breakfast, after recess, anytime we are working at our tables, or if you hold up 4 fingers to ask
· Can only be filled during breakfast time and rest time
Pencils
· Pencils can be sharpened in the morning during breakfast
· If student has a pencil that needs to be sharpened they need to wait til breakfast the next morning to do it.
· If they lose their pencil they can grab another one out of the cup that is next to the pencil sharpener.
· Please work with students on fixing their pencil grip these first few weeks of school. Make sure they are holding it correctly.
Bathroom- have everyone walk over to bathroom with you to show them and talk about things they should and shouldn’t do in the bathroom
Get in - Get out- Get going
1 kid at a time

· 2 clip downs is 2 min. of recess
· 3 clip downs is 2 min. of recess and we talk to their parents
· Can clip up for good behavior-try to have 2 kids clip up for everyone that clips down
10-10:10 Recess

· Arms folded or in pockets
· Walk on the line quietly outside- DO NOT just let them run wild to get outside. Once out the door and off that first step they can run around

They can practice writing their name on the top of the page and make it easier to just leave the book open each day and they can still find their book
Complete 1 page per day
Walk around with an eraser
If students try to go fast, erase their lines and make them do it again
The goal is to go slow and trace the lines perfectly with perfect pencil grip
This is not a race- they need to get it right
10:35-10:40 practice lining up on the tape line
· Face the door to the hallway
· Hands are folded or in their pockets
· Voices are off- can tell them to put a marshmallow or bubble in their mouth
· Don’t leave the classroom until it is ABSOLUTELY SILENT, if they start talking in the hallway, stop the line, remind them no voices. Wait again until it is quiet before walking again.
· Have 1 student put the lunch basket outside the classroom door in the hall
10:40-11:10 CAMP- each CAMP special has a teacher that will take over and lead. It may be helpful for you to stay and assist in helping students learn the rules and procedures of each CAMP class.

· Wednesday- STEAM (Room 3)
· Thursday- Drama (located in relo outside)

11:20-11:55 Lunch/Recess- stay and monitor until class is seated
· Each kinder will have a 5th grade lunch buddy the first week of school
· If they brought a home lunch, have 5th grader help walk student to the class to get their lunchbox from the basket- then come back in and find seat
· The buddy will help walk them through the line and make a choice
· How to pick a milk and fruits/vegetables
· Then to find their assigned seat
