This is a job share all day class- the kids will go to lunch and you will be done with your sub job for the day. Another teacher will come in and teach the class the rest of the afternoon.
Use the procedures page to teach and practice each procedure EVERYDAY!
***The most important part of this as well is that you model what it should look like first so students can see.
I will give you an outline and work for each day but at this time what is important is making sure the class can learn all those procedures and learn the routines.
There is a motto in kindergarten that says “Go slow now to go fast later.” Meaning take your time teaching them all the ways we act do things in kindergarten and then once they know them really well, we will be able to move faster later because they will be professionals at walking quietly to their desk or the rug, or know really well how to get their journals, or how to line up quietly…so please take the time to PRACTICE A LOT!
I like to use Google slides to make a presentation for each day. Since I am gone for so long it might be more of a general outline of the morning, but it should still be helpful in guiding you and the students visually throughout the lesson. There is a flash drive plugged into the side of the TV, just leave it plugged in. Turn on the TV using the power button and from there everything is touch screen.
I left a big bag of fruit loops in the bottom drawer behind my desk. I like to dump some in the smaller bag to walk around with. At the beginning of the year especially I keep that bag close to reward students when they are following the directions. It could be that they walked to the rug the quietest or are sitting on the rug waiting the best or stood in line quietly…. anything they are doing well they can earn a fruit loop. It helps keep them motivated.
