Key literature standards for 4th grade
Reading Literature (RL):
Theme: Determine a story's theme by using specific details in the text and summarizing the text.
Characters and Settings: Describe a character, setting, or event in depth by drawing on specific details from the text, such as thoughts, words, or actions.
Point of View: Compare and contrast how different stories are narrated.
Word Meaning: Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in the text, including figurative language like similes and metaphors.
Reading: Foundational Skills (RF):
Fluency: Read grade-level text with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension.
Phonics: Apply phonics, word analysis, and morphology knowledge to read unfamiliar multi-syllabic words accurately.
Language (L):
