Ed Tech Connect NC was designed by the students and faculty at the University of North Carolina as a way to provide educators with lessons and resources to implement the ISTE Student Standards.
Students use digital tools to connect with peers from a variety of backgrounds recognizing diverse viewpoints and broadening mutual understanding.
The world is bigger than our classrooms, and students can connect with peers from all over the globe! Digital tools allow them to share ideas, ask questions, and explore diverse perspectives.
Virtual Show and Tell: Host a virtual “show-and-tell” session where students from different backgrounds share a part of their culture, such as a tradition, holiday, or piece of art.
Mystery Guest Interview: Invite an expert or community member to join the Zoom session as a "mystery guest." Students can ask questions and guess the guest's profession or background based on clues.
Virtual Debate: Host a virtual debate or panel discussion where students present arguments on current events or topics they’re studying.
With Adobe Podcast, students can interview guests to dive into their ideas, perspectives, and unique stories, creating content that explores different viewpoints.
Collaborate with students from across the district or even around the world! Drop a pin, share ideas, and exchange perspectives—all on an interactive map.
Students use collaborative technologies to work with others, including peers, experts and community members, to examine issues and problems from multiple viewpoints.
What does a dollar buy in different parts of the world? Dollar Street is a treasure trove of real-world data that shows how families from all over the globe live—what they eat, how they dress, what their homes look like, and more! By diving into this rich resource, students can explore different cultures, economic situations, and lifestyles, all while practicing critical thinking.
Imagine a classroom where every perspective is welcome! Students can connect with peers across the hall, around the world, or even tap into historical voices from the past.
Connect with classes across Granite! Host a collaborative art project, tackle a STEM challenge or even make a digital book that features perspectives from students across our district.
Explore audio recordings from the Library of Congress or interview members of the community. These stories bring history to life and help students connect with the past.
Students contribute constructively to project teams, assuming various roles and responsibilities to work effectively toward a common goal.
Creative projects are a fantastic way to harness the power of project teams! Whether it’s coding a video game, building a website, creating a presentation, or developing a business proposal, students can collaborate and showcase their strengths.
But don’t stop at just a job description—help students fully embrace their roles by giving them physical objects to represent their responsibilities. A lanyard, hat, or name tag can make a simple task feel more official and help them visually recognize their role within the team.
It never hurts to have a little help from a friend! If you're unsure where to start with project teams, turn to the CoTeacher assistant in SchoolAI. Based on the scope of your project, it can help identify student roles and create student-friendly descriptions that make team tasks clear and manageable.
