“The ISTE Standards are about learning, not tools. These standards are designed to empower students to be owners of the learning process and ensure that learning is a blend of exploration, creativity and discovery. They are about meeting the needs of learners who live, work and play in a globally connected world.”
ISTE. (2017) ISTE Standards for Students: A Practical Guide for Learning with Technology
We’re excited to be moving forward with the ISTE Student Standards for this year's Granite EdTech Champions program. Many of the resources and materials seen on this site are pulled directly from the ISTE website.
Every month, the Ed Tech department will roll out a coaching challenge based on one of the ISTE Student Standards. Each standard includes four different indicators. You have the opportunity to complete a coaching cycle with your tech coach using one of the indicators to earn a stipend! You can earn an additional stipend if you plan a collaborative cycle that includes your Tech Coach and other members of your coaching team.
For each coaching cycle you complete with your tech coach, you will submit a Google Form and reflective journal. Due dates are flexible, but stipends can't be paid unless they are turned in. Once you have submitted your Google Form you will receive a confirmation email letting you know your submission is being reviewed. The submission window closes May 15th.
Nope! We encourage teachers to work with their tech coach to select a challenge or two that best fits their professional needs. All of the standards and indicators are available for you to view. Keep in mind, we are restricting participants to completing up to 8 challenges over the course of the program.
Any Granite educator who instructs students during the school day and is able to complete the monthly requirements in an authentic manner.
Check out this website and meet with your tech coach/library tech coach to let them know you are ready to get started!
