Thank you for your support!
Dismissal changes: If you need to make a change to how your child is going home after school, whether it’s just for one day or a permanent change, it's best to contact the main office at 816-316-5400. They will get the message to me.
Water bottles: Please send a water bottle with your child every day. It gets hot at recess or during PE class, so it's nice to be able to get a drink when needed. Please send plain water only with your student! We cannot have juice, soda, flavored water, Gatorade, etc. in the classroom.
Tennis shoes: For safety reasons, please have your child wear tennis shoes on days we have PE. Even on the days we don't have PE, tennis shoes are a safer option for playing outside at recess.
Backpacks: Please make sure your child brings their backpack to school every day, and take the papers out of their backpack when they get home.
Self-help skills: Please help us reinforce independence here at school by practicing some skills at home! Examples of things you can help your child practice: thoroughly washing hands with soap and water; cleaning up after themselves in the restroom; coughing or sneezing into their elbow; fastening and unfastening zippers, snaps, and buttons; tying their shoes; and using their words to communicate their needs.
Birthday celebrations: Please contact me in advance if your child will be having a birthday and you want to send a small treat to school to celebrate. It’s helpful for me to know ahead of time if students are bringing treats for the class so that I can find a time to pause our learning to pass those out. Examples of easy birthday treats to share at school: cookies, fruit snacks, fruit roll-ups, or bags of chips/popcorn/pretzels. Non-food items are also welcome if you prefer to celebrate that way, for example: fun pencils or erasers, bubbles, twisty straws, or fidget poppers.
Please let me know if you have any questions!
