UPDATE: Due to COVID-19, the USDA has required all school food programs to offer free breakfast and lunch to ALL students. This does not require a family to be eligible for free/reduced lunch. Each GBCS student can have breakfast and lunch when face-to-face for free, and all our families can pick up pre-packaged meals for 5 or 7 days each Friday from our dining services staff. Kids who don’t get enough to eat — especially during their first three years — begin life at a serious disadvantage. When they’re hungry, children are more likely to be hospitalized and they face higher risks of health conditions like anemia and asthma. And as they grow up, kids struggling to get enough to eat are more likely to have problems in school and other social situations.

The Hand Up school food pantry located at West Middle School distributes free food on an ongoing basis to families of Grand Blanc students regardless of residency.

The following organizations are outlets set up to help with food security either on an ongoing or temporary basis. FISH of Grand Blanc is now working with religious organizations in the area to distribute food to Grand Blanc residents as well as families of Grand Blanc Community Schools students. Please see your student liaison or counselor for assistance if you need help applying for more consistent government programs like SNAP. Other programs may be dependent on your eligibility for the Free and Reduced lunch program, so filling out the forms for that program is necessary, even when meals are already free for students.
