16.5 Classroom Celebrations and Treats
Classroom celebrations and treats must be pre-approved by the homeroom teacher and/or GIS Administration. Students and parents may share birthday treats only at the end of the school day on a designated day once a month, chosen by the teacher, to celebrate all birthdays for that month. Please keep in mind the following guidelines:
Treats must be wrapped individually for easy distribution at the end of the day. (Labeled with ingredients in case of allergies)
Treats must be dropped off before noon with the receptionist who will give them to the last period teacher.
Parents are encouraged to consider distributing non-food items as treats (small toys, stickers, etc.).
Last period teachers will distribute treats to students to take home as they leave the classroom for dismissal.
We will celebrate birthdays on the last Friday of each month for all students born in that month. Please be mindful of allergies as well as sugar intake. I encourage families to consider birthday treats or surprises that go beyond just sweets, please.
