Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu Dear Parents,
Welcome to the second grade! I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with your child this year. I am excited to be your child’s teacher. This is going to be a wonderful year filled with learning, growth, and fun and our first day of school is on Wednesday, August 11, 2025. I can't wait to see them.
In second grade, we will build on the skills your child has developed in first grade while exploring new and exciting topics. Our curriculum will cover a variety of subjects, including reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. We will engage in hands-on activities and projects to make learning interactive and enjoyable.
Here are a few things to help us start the year off smoothly:
Classroom Supplies: Please ensure your child has the basic supplies for the year. A detailed list was emailed previously by Sr. Nihad, but if you need to find it please check our webpage (https://www.granadaschool.org/parents). Please make sure to label everything with their name including school uniforms/jackets. School uniforms are mandatory.
Daily Routine: All students need to arrive on time, no later than 7:45 am so they don’t miss out on the beginning of our lessons and easily settle to be ready for our first Math session in the morning. Our school day runs from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday-Tuesday-Thursday and Friday and Wednesday ends at 2:00. Anyone arriving later than 8:00 must get a tardy slip from the front office reception.
Snack and Lunch: Please pack a healthy snack and lunch for your child each day. If your child has any food allergies or dietary restrictions, let me know so we can make any necessary accommodations. Remember to send a reusable, non-leak water bottle with a sip spout. No glass bottles.
Communication: Please follow our WhatsApp group announcements daily. I believe that open communication between home and school is essential for your child’s success. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me via email at aylins@granadaschool.org or call the school office at 408-980-1161. Please e-mail Sadia in our business office to update any contact information if needed. sadiaw@granadaschool.org. Please feel free to contact the homeroom or respective teacher via email between 7:30 and 4:00.
Homework: Homework will be assigned to reinforce classroom learning. Please encourage your child to complete their assignments and review their work.
Volunteering: If you are interested in helping out in the classroom or chaperoning field trips, we would love to have your support! Please let my room mom or me know directly via email if you’re available.
I am looking forward to a fantastic year of learning and fun with your child. Thank you for your support and partnership. Together, we can make this a successful and enjoyable year for your child.
