Site Supervisor
Salaam Alaikum, My name is Lina Hamoudeh and I am the Pre-K Site Supervisor. I am passionate about teaching our young Muslim youth about their deen, ethics, and how to positively represent our community. I hold a Child Development Site Supervisor Permit from the State of California, and a California Foreign Language (Arabic Language) Project Certificate. I have been working at Granada Islamic School for quite a long time, 30 years teaching Pre-K, and 3 years in Kindergarten. I am looking forward to another blessed year of teaching the new generation.

My Name is Sawsan Alayleh. I am the PreK Program Coordinator, I will be also the Arabic and Quranic Studies teacher InshaAllah. I have studied French Literature at the Lebanese University in Lebanon. I hold an Early Childhood Education Degree, an Early Childhood Teaching Certificate, and a Program Director Specialization Certificate. I also contributed in developing comprehensive Arabic Language Curriculums while I worked at Reflection Sunday School. Additionally, I earned 2 teaching certificates, alhamdulillah, in the Juz' 29 and 30 of the Holy Quran. I have been an early childhood educator for over 17 years. This year will be the sixth year teaching at Granada Islamic School. Working with children ages three to seven years has always been my passion. As a certified positive discipline educator, I believe that our pupils deserve to be appreciated and respected for each one is created by Allah SWT to be special and unique, and this is the main message I would like to instill in my students' soft hearts. I am so excited to embark on new Arabic and Islamic learning adventures with your jewels and I am so appreciative to be part of your children’s Islamic Education Experience. Assalamu Alaykum. My name is Nilofar Patel and I am very excited to be a Pre-K teacher for your children this year. This is my fourth year of teaching in Pre-K at GIS. I will be teaching Language Arts and Math in the Pre-K classroom. I have a bachelor's degree in Accounting back from India. I hold a teaching certificate and an AS degree in Early Childhood Education from the state of California. In the past, I volunteered in a co-op preschool, worked in a Montessori school, and hosted playgroups for young Muslim children in the Bay Area. I am very passionate about teaching young children. Other than teaching, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, exploring the outdoors, cooking, and doing art/craft activities with my children. Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year!
It was an honor to see the parents who were able to attend the Meet and Greet on Thursday. We missed those who couldn’t make it, but we look forward to seeing you next week, insha’Allah.
Here are a few reminders for Monday:
Supply List: If you haven’t found it yet, here is the [supplies list]. Please provide the items as soon as possible and ensure they are labeled with your child’s first and last name.
Extra Clothes: Please send an extra set of clothes in a labeled Ziploc bag. This will be stored in your child’s cubby and used in case of spills or accidents.
Bedding for Full-Day Students: Please provide a crib-sized bedsheet and blanket (both labeled with your child’s name) to be used during nap time.
First Week Schedule:
8/11–8/15 (Half-Day Students):
Dismissal at 12:00 PM.
Doors open at 11:55 AM. Students should be picked up by 12:05 PM.
8/11–8/12 (Full-Day Students):
Dismissal at 12:30 PM.
Students should be picked up by 12:40 PM.
8/13–8/15 (Full-Day Students):
Dismissal at 3:15 PM.
Students should be picked up by 3:30 PM.
Late pickup after 3:30 pm will be charged $ 15 per hour
Meals:
Half-day students need snacks only.
Full-day students need snacks and lunch.
Please pack a healthy lunch and avoid sugary or junk food items.
Allergy Info:
If you haven’t already, please update us about your child’s allergies as soon as possible.
Morning Drop-Off:
- Classroom doors open at 7:45 AM.
- Please bring the Placard (the yellow card given at the Meet and Greet with your child’s first and last name) for pick-up.
- If you didn’t receive one on Thursday, you can collect it during drop-off tomorrow.

My name is Lubna Mustafa. I am Palestinian American and have been living in San Jose since 1995. I hold a degree in Arabic Literature from Amman, Jordan, and have more than 18 years of experience teaching Arabic. I am blessed with two boys and two girls, all of whom attended Granada Islamic School. I look forward to meeting you and your children and to having an amazing year together, Inshallah.

Assalamu Alaikum. My name is Amal Mohamed. I am one of the PreK Team teachers. I have been working at GIS for the past 20 years as a Preschool teacher. I obtained my bachelor's degree in Accounting from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt. I completed 20+ units in Early Childhood Education from San Jose City College. I have a Child Development Permit from the State of California. I enjoy working with children and seeing them grow. The creative, fun, and continuous learning type of work environment is one of my favorite parts of being a Pre-Kindergarten teacher. I am a mother of two children who graduated from GIS. Some of my hobbies include traveling, cooking, and shopping. I am looking forward to a great year together inshaAllah.

Assalamu Alaikum. My name is Souzan Abu-Issa. I hold an associate in Arts and Human Development. I have been a teacher for the past 14 years and I have been serving children of various ages. As one of the teachers for pre-k, I look forward to spending time with your children. I am extremely excited to embark on this year's journey of learning! May Allah grant us tawfiq.

Pre-K classroom door opens at 7:45 am to receive the students.
Parents must drop off Pre-K students in the Pre-K classroom
-Parents must sign in and sign out their children on a daily basis.
Half-day students are dismissed at 12:00 noon and full-day students are dismissed at 3:15 pm (M, T, Th, Friday) and 2:00 pm on Wednesday.
No uniform is required - comfortable clothing and Velcro closed shoes/sneakers are preferred.
Please dress your children in long pants as shorts are not allowed.
Masks are optional for students .
Nap Time for Full Time students ONLY
Pre-K students take a one-hour nap daily in the afternoon.
We need a small sheet and a blanket (crib size only please) as we do not have space to accommodate big blankets, pillows, or sleeping bags.
A change of clothes is needed in a zip-lock bag labeled with your child's name.
Healthy Lunch
Every child must bring his/her own healthy snack and lunch in a lunch box ( labeled with first and last name please) such as: sandwiches, fruits, vegetables, yogurt, etc.
Chips, chocolate, and candy are not allowed.
Each child needs to bring their own water bottle labeled with his/her name.
