Student Borrowing Privileges
Kindergartners may borrow and take home two books at a time.
Students in Grade 1 may borrow and take home two books at a time.
Students in Grade 2 may borrow up to three items, including books and magazines.
Students in Grade 3 may borrow up to four items, including books, playaways, magazines, videos, DVDs, and CDs.
Students in Grade 4 may borrow up to five items, including books, playaways, magazines, videos, DVDs, and CDs.
Students in Grade 5 may borrow up to six items, including books, playaways, magazines, videos, DVDs, and CDs.
Students in Grades 6 - 12 may borrow up to seven items, including books, playaways, magazines, videos, DVDs, and CDs.
Overdue Items
Students with any overdue items will not be able to check out additional items until the overdue item is returned or billed.
Overdue notices will be generated twice per month.
DVDs and playaways are checked out for one week.
Students in Grades K - 4th can check out items for one week.
Students in Grades 5th through High School can check out items for two weeks.
There are no fines for overdue materials. Please return your books on time.
Lost or Damaged Items
Students will be responsible for lost or damaged items that they check out.
After sending the overdue notifications described above, parents will be billed for the replacement value of unreturned item(s).
VOX Books Borrowing Policy
Check out policy:
Parents of KG students who want to borrow Vox books must come to the library to check them out.
Each student who selects a Vox book may check out only one at a time.
Vox books must be returned within two weeks of checkout.
Students who repeatedly damage Vox books they have checked out will be suspended from checking out Vox books in the future.
Library use:
Students must read the instructions for properly using the Vox book before using it for the first time.
Students who wish to listen to their Vox book while in the GIS library must use headphones.
Responsible use at home:
Volume is on max when the red light flashes for a second after the volume is increased.
If parents have small children at home, please ensure they are supervised when playing the Vox books to prevent damage.
Vox books are approximately $43 each. Please make sure your children handle the books with care to prevent damage.
Maintenance:
Vox books should be turned off after each use to preserve battery life.
Damaged books:
Each Vox book will be checked upon return to ensure it is functioning properly. If the Vox reader does not function properly upon return, the parent of the student who checked out the Vox book will be responsible for paying for a replacement book.
