Dear Students, 

Please always complete "Teacher assigned' lessons first before doing iready assigned lessons.

Make sure that you have at least completed the following lessons before the module-6 test on Tues,11/21  in order to be well-prepared for the test, inshallah:

1) Use Common Denominators to Compare Fractions

2) Add Fractions with Unlike Denominators

3) Subtract Fractions with Unlike Denominators

4) Practice: Fraction Addition and Subtraction

Assalam Alaikum Dear Fifth Grade Family,

Welcome to my class of 2023-24 academic school year! I am excited to embark on a new academic school year together. Our theme of this year is "Ihsan - Perseverance to Excellence, and it embodies the spirit of determination, growth, and achievement that we aim to cultivate among our school community this year, Inshallah! 

In the first couple of weeks, we will focus on building a strong foundation for our learning journey.  Here's a brief overview:

1. INTRODUCTION: We will get to know each other, both teachers and students. Open communication and trust are essential, and we want our students to feel comfortable in our learning environment.

2. TEAM BUILDING ACTIVITIES: Teamwork and collaboration are essential life skills. We will engage in various activities to strengthen our bonds, promote cooperation, and have some fun along the way.

3. INTRODUCTION TO THE CURRICULUM: We will introduce the Math curriculum and will provide an overview of the whole curriculum, our learning goals, and the topics we'll explore throughout the year.

We will start with a Math project - MATH ABOUT ME, in which students will write an expression to tell us about themselves. In this project, we will get to use the order of operations to write and solve the expressions. 

Throughout the school year, I will be updating our Math page on this Google Site. You will see biweekly updates, a 5th-grade homework sheet,  tests/quiz schedules, and important announcements here. We will also use Google Classroom for Math updates and assignments.

We are going to be learning together every day this school year, Inshallah. The most important thing to remember is that I am here because I want you to have a great school year, learn a lot, be proud of all that you accomplish, and feel happy, safe, and welcome in our classroom.
