Statement of Intent

Grace Church Beckenham is committed to the nurturing, protection and safekeeping of everyone, especially children and young people.

It recognises that this is the responsibility of the whole church and that all members (including Employees, Trustees and Volunteers) have a full and active part to play in protecting children and vulnerable individuals from harm.

To this end (and in line with UK legislation and guidance) we are committed to the development and implementation of the following policies and procedures:

● Appointment of a Safeguarding Coordinator and Deputy Safeguarding Coordinator with specific responsibilities for safeguarding

● Suitability checking of all adults volunteering/appointed to work with children, including a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check

● Appropriate awareness training, support and supervision of all who undertake work with children

● Clear reporting procedures to be followed when safeguarding concerns are raised

The regular review of this policy by the Leadership, Trustees and the nominated Safeguarding Coordinator to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, statutory guidance and recognised best practice.
