Glassboro Public School District’s buildings are deeply valued by the community and well-maintained, having stood the test of time.
To continue ensuring that the schools can serve our students and community now and into the future, improvements must be made.
A bond referendum is a vote that gives the community a voice in whether the school district can borrow funds through bond sales to invest in school improvements.
Voter approval would:
Give permission for the district to borrow upfront funds, similar to how a homeowner uses a line of credit to replace a roof or HVAC system.
Align our district’s infrastructure spending with our 2021-2026 Strategic Plan.
Unlock $4.7 million in state aid (if voters approve all three questions) to offset the local costs of these projects.
The ballot questions will appear on the General Election ballot on November 4.
The Board of Education thought carefully about which projects to include in the referendum. They were guided by a desire to maximize state aid and fund improvements that do not fit within the annual operating budget.
Voter approval of three ballot questions could do all this – and more for the Glassboro community.
The Board of Education organized the proposal into three questions that would make long-term improvements and updates across the entire district.
Projects outlined in the questions would require different investments from the community.
If Question 1, Question 2 and Question 3 were all approved by voters, residents would see a monthly increase of approximately $17 per month* in school debt tax for a home assessed at the Glassboro average of $192,572.
