September Lesson:

For the month of September our SEL theme worked alongside the Michigan competency of Identifying Emotions:

• SELF AWARENESS: Demonstrate an awareness of their emotions. 

• SOCIAL AWARENESS: Demonstrates awareness of other people’s emotions and perspectives

• SELF-MANAGEMENT: Students identify and manage their emotions and behavior constructively.

For September, students will focus on the importance of being aware of their emotions and categorize them in color zones depending on how their bodies respond to those feelings.  We will also work on recognizing those emotions in others.    

• All students will participate in a lesson to learn about (or review) the four Zones of Regulation- blue, green, yellow, and red. Students will participate in classroom discussions and an activity to help them identify what feelings are linked to each Zone color.

Here are the September SEL slides that are shared with the elementary classroom teachers. 

*These lessons are typically not presented to the classes by the SEL Coaches, however the teachers do consult with the SEL Coaches with questions.
