A message from Principal Gelmi:
It was great to see those winter hats today on our winter hat day. Next week Friday December 12 is our festive pajama day followed by our Friday December 19th ugly sweater day. We are in our winter season of assessments as our kids are currently working through MAP and Acadience testing. This will continue this week, next week, and will be wrapped up by the end of our last week before break. The year goes by quickly and it is hard to believe that December 19th marks the end of our 1st semester of school. Student report cards and grades will be available on Powerschool on Friday January 9th. It has been great fun listening to our 1st and 2nd grade students preparing for our winter concert which is coming up next week Wednesday. Thanks for sharing your kids with us and have a great weekend!
Please send extra clothes with your kids that they can keep in their lockers in case of an accident. The office is also running low on the following sizes:
8/10 pants
adult 2X in athletic shorts
We find it best that the pants have an athletic or sweatpant feel. Thank you for helping to restock our supplies!
At this time, we are still awaiting final details from the state budget. While we do not yet know whether free school meals will be included, we want to reassure you that all students will continue to receive free meals until further notice.
We are hopeful that free meals will remain a part of the state budget. However, if the program is not included, we will need to return to a pay system for school meals beginning November 1.
We encourage any family to apply for Free & Reduced Meals and other additional Child Nutrition and Educational Benefits at grandville.familyportal.cloud. There is important student support funding that Grandville receives that is tied to approved applications. Approved applications also ensure that families receive any and all discounts related to Athletics, Technology, Testing, Summer School, Home Internet, etc. You can visit our website at https://www.gpsbulldogs.org to find links to menus and more information about School Meals.
Holiday Fridays:
It’s time to get FESTIVE!!! Each Friday during the month of December we will have a fun apparel day for our staff and students. A list is posted here as well as a paper coming home with your student. It’s one of our favorite times of the year as we lead up to holiday break.
Christmas in the Commons:
The City of Grandville invites you to join them for a strolling holiday event including our annual tree
lighting at 5:30 PM hosted by City Council and accompanied by the Grandville High School Band. Please check here for a list of the activities that help make this night magical.
More information for some helpful resources and communication from Mrs. Breuker will come soon.
Attendance hotline:

Absences & Tardies:
Please remember to call our Attendance Hotline anytime your child will be absent or tardy for school. If we do not receive a call, the absence will be marked as unexcused. Consistent attendance is extremely important. Missing school - whether for a full day or even part of a day- can have a significant impact on your child’s academic progress and success.
Early Pickups and Appointments:
If you need to pick your child up early due to an appointment, please call the office when you are on your way so we can do our best to have your child in the office when you arrive. Please send a note or email your child’s teacher that day as a reminder.
We are excited to announce that our Volunteer Background Check Form is now electronic! No more paper copies that need to be turned into the school office. Please allow 1 week for background checks to be processed ahead of your volunteer event. For a direct link to the form please click HERE
These forms do need to be filled out each year. If you are unable to use the digital form, please reach out to our Administration Offices for assistance.
