A message from Principal Gelmi: 

Welcome back all from Spring Break. Looking forward to finishing our year strong here at Central Elementary. This spring we have a lot of activities and assessments that happen in our building. This week some of our students (3rd and 4th grade only) have started M-STEP testing. This is the state testing that happens once a year and it is a great opportunity for our students to show what they know. We also have our district assessments coming up here in the beginning of May which is a short two weeks away. Please help our kids do the best they can on our assessments by getting good sleep and a good start to the mornings as they do their best to showcase what they have learned throughout the year. This information is valuable to us as a building as it helps us take a look at what we can do better or differently to grow the learning of all of our students. The assessments really help us know how we can grow as educators including what we need to focus on for further professional development. Thanks so much for sharing your kids with us as we move toward the busy spring year of school and finishing strong!

Art and Chocolate Walk:

Mark your calendars for Thursday, April 30th- we will be having our annual Art and Chocolate Walk.  It’s always a FUN event!  More information and how to buy tickets can be found here. Central’s Artwork will be at Johnson Carpet for viewing.  Here is a map of all locations that are participating in the event. 

Registration for the Class of 2039 is opening up on February 2nd, 2026!

Please join us for a Kindergarten Orientation that will be held on Tuesday, March 10th at 7pm.  This event will be held in the auditorium at the High School.

Tuesday:  Dress like a Friend: Wear clothes to dress like a friend or make plans to dress the same OR wear your class color!!! ( YK: Red  K:   Maroon  1: Yellow  2:  Blue  3: Purple  4: Green )

Wednesday: Favorite Day: Wear a shirt showing off one of your favorite things!

Thursday: Neurodiversity Day: Wear your favorite color or the whole rainbow to show support for our neurodiverse classmates!

Friday: Bulldog Day: Wear your Grandville Gear or Grandville Colors!

Absences & Tardies:

Please remember to call our Attendance Hotline anytime your child will be absent or tardy for school. If we do not receive a call, the absence will be marked as unexcused.  Consistent attendance is extremely important. Missing school - whether for a full day or even part of a day- can have a significant impact on your child’s academic progress and success.

Early Pickups and Appointments:

If you need to pick your child up early due to an appointment, please call the office when you are on your way so we can do our best to have your child in the office when you arrive. Please send a note or email your child’s teacher that day as a reminder.

We are excited to announce that our Volunteer Background Check Form is now electronic! No more paper copies that need to be turned into the school office. Please allow 1 week for background checks to be processed ahead of your volunteer event. For a direct link to the form please click HERE
