After finishing second at Regionals, Gonzaga Prep’s chess team advanced to the 60th Annual State High School Chess Championship, competing against 50 top teams and 300+ players statewide.
In the six-round event, Prep made a strong showing: Rachel Price (one win), Jack Hamsher (1 win / 1 draw), Alyssa Glastre (three wins), Preston Le (four wins), and Sebastian Campbell (three Board One victories).
In the All-Comers Division (48 players), Shan Yi placed 3rd to bring home a trophy, and Jax Whipple finished 11th. Congratulations to the Gonzaga Prep Chess Team! (See pictures on the team page.)
