Mission: The Gonzaga Prep Chess Club’s mission is to make chess fun and welcoming for all students while building strategic thinking, respectful competition, and community.
"Open Play": Every week during Community Period, chess players of all levels gather in the library for friendly matches, lessons (if desired), and fun! The club currently has over 30 members, ranging from complete beginners to tournament veterans. Everyone is welcome to join anytime.

History
Founded in 1989 by Andre Cossette, the Chess Club and Team have grown into a vibrant, supportive community that fosters a love of the game for players of all levels. Over the years, the Team has also achieved remarkable competitive success, earning numerous GSL and individual titles while building lasting friendships and sportsmanship.
