Ensembles

The Symphonic Band is a consistent Texas UIL Concert and Sight Reading Sweepstakes awards recipient. The Symphonic Band is the advanced (Varsity) ensemble at Reagan. Students perform at concerts and contests throughout the school year including UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Contest, Solo & Ensemble, Veterans Day, Awards Ceremonies, and participate in the All-District & All-Region audition processes. The Symphonic Band sets the standard in musicianship, integrity, and professionalism at Reagan MS. Instrumentation is limited to students who show advanced performance abilities and superior attitudes. This group performs very difficult & mature music and requires a once a week outside of school sectional as well as other outside of school rehearsals leading up to a performance or contest.

The Concert Band is an advanced band and considered Reagan Middle School’s second performing ensemble. The Concert Band is the Non-Varsity ensemble at Reagan. Students perform at concerts and contests throughout the school year including UIL Concert & Sight-reading Contest, Solo & Ensemble, and may be invited to participate in the All-District & All-Region audition processes. Instrumentation is limited to students who show advanced performance abilities and superior attitudes. This class requires a once a week outside of school section rehearsal and has very few other outside of school rehearsals leading up to a performance or contest. 

The Beginner Band is Reagan's entry level performing ensemble. The Beginning Band is composed of mostly 6th graders, but other grades are welcome to join! You will be placed on an instrument through an instrument selection process and learn that instrument over the course of the school year. Beginner Band is divided into specialized classes for the purpose of teaching the basic fundamentals of playing an instrument.  Classes include: Flute, Oboe/Bassoon, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone/Euphonium, Tuba, and Percussion that will come together for band concerts. Students will complete musical and rehearsal objectives in preparation for Symphonic Band and Concert Band. Beginner Band will participate in the Winter & Spring Concerts, Solo & Ensemble, and attend a band festival at the end of the school year.
