One option for students after high school is to attend a university and work towards a Bachelors Degree. Some students will start a two year college and transfer to a four year university while others will go directly into a four year university. Students must apply and be accepted into any two year or four year university. Below are links to some of the most popular four year and two universities for our students. Each of these schools have online applications and deadlines that students must apply by in order to be considered.
Trade schools offer various programs for students interested in a skill based job. Most of these programs require a 1-3 year study program and don't require core curriculum courses such as English, math or history. These programs focus on teaching students one major skill that they will do as a career such as electrician, plumber, phlebotomist, etc. These programs all accept financial aid money and must also be applied to by certain deadline.
The Armed Forces is an excellent option for students as well. Students must take a test called the ASVAB to be considered for military enlistment. The ASVAB is given at Grand Prairie High School in the spring semester. Below is a list of the contacts for the various branches recruiters that work with our school. Students can reach out and meet with these recruiters outside of school or during the school day. Each branch has certain requirements for enlistment.
