Prerequisites to taking Advanced Placement World History

There are no prerequisites for AP World History: Modern. However, students are expected to read college level textbooks and write grammatically correct, complete sentences. I believe that success in any endeavor in life is achieved not by how smart an individual thinks they are but rather the work that someone is willing to put in to realizing their goals.

Mr. Wilson's bio

This is my ninth year working as a classroom teacher and my fifth year here at North Shore Senior High School at the 10th Grade Center. I am the social studies department chair and I am very proud to be a part of the Mustang community. My wife and I love going to the games, band competitions, and other extra-curricular activities involving our school and students.

Before I made the decision to become a teacher, I worked in non-profits and in the business sector for 30 years. My previous employer was M. D. Anderson Cancer Center where I worked as a volunteer administer and one of my duties was running MDA's year round teen volunteer program in the evenings and on weekends. This experience is one of the reasons I made the decision to become a teacher. Please look through my website for expectations, schedules, tutorials, and google and AP classroom codes.

I look forward to meeting you all soon.

AP World History is a challenging two semester course that is structured around the investigation of selected themes woven into key concepts covering distinct chronological periods. AP World History is equivalent to an introductory college survey course. The course has a three-fold purpose. First, it is designed to prepare students for successful placement into higher-level college and university history courses. Second, it is designed to develop skills of analysis and thinking in order to prepare students for success in the twenty-first century. Finally, it is the intent of this class to make the learning of world history an enjoyable experience. Students will be able to show their mastery of the course goals by taking part in the College Board AP World History Exam in May.
