Eighth grade has changed and bettered me in many ways. I have gone to many new places and learned much from the things around me. I have also socialized more this year than the year before. I have made new friends and experienced new things. I have gained responsibility and independence as I grew during the eighth grade.
Last year, I was reserved and talked less than I do now. My time in choir with new people has allowed me to grow and develop in ways I would not have thought of before. I used to like watching anime more than reading books, but now I enjoy reading more than watching anime. Throughout middle school, I have been in many clubs. I have been in the STEM Girls Club my whole middle school life, but during eighth grade, I stopped attending most meetings because it was not fun anymore. I have also been in the anime club throughout middle school and still participate in the meetings because every meeting is engaging and exciting. I now think differently and have different goals.
During eighth grade, I accomplished many things. I got sixth out of eighteen chairs for soprano two during region choir. I also won first place with my group in a STEM competition at school and participated in the Spanish Spelling Bee. I had good grades during middle school, which stayed the same during eighth grade. I have also become more responsible and independent than in the past years because I make my lunch and cook more than before. I am content with all my achievements during eighth grade and will strive to achieve more in the following years.
I had the same goals throughout middle school, but they changed once I entered eighth grade. In the past, I wanted to graduate with good grades and get a good job, then save money and travel, but now I want to go on a year-long exchange program to Japan during high school. Even though I have changed a lot during eighth grade, I will still strive to do my best in school and try to complete my goals as fast as possible.
Over the Years
I am from horror books and plushies.
From a house full of cherished memories and family gatherings.
I am from a kind and considerate family,
and from an “as long as you put in the effort, it doesn't matter what grade you get.”
I am from my mother’s garden,
whose vegetables and flowers were grown with time and effort.
I am from the books I read during the car ride home
and from the Taylor Swift songs my mom listens to in the car.
I am from Chuyy and Letty
and from the baked macaroni and brownies my cousins make.
I am from those moments when my family and I watch movies all night during the weekends.
