Introduction

My cars must be beautiful. But more than that, they must not stop out on the circuit. For then people will say, ‘What a pity, it was so pretty.’ This quote was once said by Enzo Ferrari. He created the Ferrari which is one of the most expensive cars that you can buy. Enzo Ferrari never had an actual education, but he loved racing from the start and he wanted to become a race car driver when he was older. Soon enough he went to watch his 1st race and he knew from there that he wanted to be a racecar driver. Ferrari pursued his dream of becoming a race car driver and won multiple cups, but eventually retired. He moved on from his racing career and proceeded to make the beautiful car company with the prancing horse. He created multiple vehicles to race in and eventually made vehicles to drive on the streets. He proceeded to make a bunch of money from people buying his cars to race in, but all this turned when his son died. He started to go downhill since his drivers died and people assumed it was his fault. One of them even killed about ten people, but he continued to make vehicles. He proceeded to make one of the most famous car brands in the world. He made beautiful and extremely quick cars that were made to race. Enzo Ferrari proceeded to make one of the best cars in the world because his career in racing got him there.

Early Life

Enzo Ferrari was the person who created and named the Ferrari. He was born on February 18, 1898. Ferrari never really had an education as a child. As a child, Ferrari always had a passion for cars at a very young age and decided to become a race car driver at the age of 10. When Ferrari was around the age of ten, his father took him to see his first grand Prix which was called the Circuit Di Bolonga. He went to see multiple other race car events which left “a very strong impression” on him. In 1914, He then became a teacher at the Lathe Operator Workshop in the Modena Fire Brigade’s Workshop. During WWI, his father and brother got sent out to serve in the war, but they eventually got the Italian flu and died. Around the time they died, Ferrari was called to serve in the great war. He then later contracted into the 1918 flu pandemic which later caused him to be discharged from the war (Enzo Ferrari).

Racing Career

Ferrari got a letter of recommendation from the military, but he decided to go with his career of being a racecar driver. He decided to work with Fiat, but all vacancies were taken, so he couldn’t work with the company. He eventually worked as a test driver with a company in Italy called Costruzioni Meccaniche Nazionali, in Milan, in 1919. He was eventually promoted to a post-race car driver. In the same year, he drove his 1st race in the Parma-Poggio di Berceto uphill race. He participated in another race called the Targa Floria, but never gained any success because there was a problem with his fuel tank. In the following year, Ferrari participated again in the Targa Floria and raced in the Alfa Romeo. He ended up getting second place in the race, but this ended up promoting him to a higher position as a salesperson. He later got promoted to the head of the Alfa-Corse Team. In 1921, Ferrari raced in multiple circuits and Grands Prix and got into his first accident. The accident occurred when he went off the tracks to try and save a herd of cattle from being run over. In 1923, he won his first Salvio Circuit. Since he won the circuit, he met Count Baracca, Francesco Baracca, and Countess Baracca. As a token of their gratitude, they gave him a photo of a prancing horse, and they encouraged him to use it as “a mascot” on his racing cars whenever he pleased. In 1929, he created his first Grand Prix team for Alfa Romeo. It was called the “Scuderia Ferrari Grand Prix Racing Team.” Enzo Ferrari’s last year of racing was in 1931. His last race was on the Provinces Circuit (which he came in second by the way). He was driving the “Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 MM.” Enzo at the time had an escalating family and many other professional responsibilities, so he retired from his racing career (Enzo Ferrari).

Building Ferrari

After the retirement of Enzo Ferrari left Alfa Romeo, he decided to open up the Auto Avio Costruzioni in Modena and decided that he should make his race cars so people could use them, but the terrible coming of World War Two caused the government to interrupt, so he moved his factory to a place nearby Maranello to mainly focus on making grinding machines. After the war, Ferrari continued to make racing cars, and in March 1947, Ferrari created his very first official Ferrari called the 125 S and took it out to a test drive. The car won its very first race in the same year called the Rome Grand Prix. The car went to win multiple Grands Prix (Some examples may be the Mille Miglia in 1948, the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1949, and the British Grand Prix in 1951). Alberto (Who drove a Ferrari car) ended winning the World Championships in 1952 and 1953, but only two car models were produced. At around the same time as the championships, Ferrari started producing vehicles that people could drive around on the streets instead of the racing field. The first car model for road driving was the 125 S. Despite Ferrari being at the top of the charts, his son was killed by muscular dystrophy in 1956. Not only did Ferrari lose his son Dino, but he lost six drivers as well and was eventually tried in court for manslaughter, and one of his drivers ended up sliding into the spectating area and killed 9 people. (Enzo Ferrari)

Conclusion

Enzo Ferrari made a huge impact in the car and racing industry. He went from being a salesman to the founder of one of the most famous companies in the world. It started with being a salesman, a race car driver for Costruzioni Meccaniche Nazionali where he won his first race, raced with other companies, being ahead driver for Alfa Romeo, and then retiring. Ferrari retired from his job to start making cars, but the war did not let him do it for a while. When the war ended, he started on his first car model which was the 125 S. He made other models too, but I will not say them all. Ferrari had a racing career which affected his car industry.
