WHY TAKE THE TSIA
The Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Assessment determines whether students are ready for college-level coursework in reading, writing, and math. Here are a few reasons why students should take the TSI Assessment:
1. College Readiness: It helps students and schools understand students' readiness for college-level work. Students can focus on improving skills before starting college by identifying areas of strength and weakness.
2. Course Placement: Based on TSI scores, students may be placed in developmental education courses or college-level courses. Students who pass the TSI can skip remedial classes, saving time and money.
3. Meeting Requirements: Many Texas colleges and universities require students to take the TSI Assessment unless they are exempt due to SAT, ACT, or other standardized test scores.
4. Educational Planning: The results help students and advisors create an academic plan tailored to their needs, ensuring they are on track for graduation.
5. Avoid Delays: Taking and passing the TSI before starting college can prevent delays in enrolling in necessary courses for a degree program.
Taking the TSI is a key step in ensuring that students are prepared and positioned for success in their college journey.
