The clinical rotations program allows you to learn the basics of health science including hands-on training. During the spring semester, we will be going to the hospital via school bus in which you will be able to shadow healthcare staff in various departments. You will be able to observe real life scenarios in a hospital setting, whether you are in the x-ray department, ICU, postpartum or nursery, etc. In order for you to participate, all students are required to have a background check and drug test prior to attending the hospital, as well as several health requirements listed below. Students will need a state or government issued ID to successfully run a background check and drug screen(please try and get this during the summer before school starts). This course requires all students to follow OSHA guidelines for dress code, which may differ from Galena Park ISD dress code, which includes scrub uniforms
In August, we will take a class field trip to Northshore Medical Supply to try on and purchase our scrubs. Please budget for the above supply expenses. All health care requirements such as vaccines or testing need to be completed prior to fall semester ending. Failure to do so, will result in removal from the program. Not everyone gets the privilege and opportunity to go to the hospital and watch live procedures, deliveries or see the nurses, doctors and techs in action. Keep in mind that only ten students are selected for this course, which means you are held at high standards and expected to perform as such.
Please keep in mind that the health requirements such as vaccines are not a school requirement, but a Hospital requirement. In order for the student to participate in the hospital visits, they must have all documented health requirements. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me via email and we can set up a meeting to discuss further.
