  1. Read for at least 20 minutes every day. Complete your reading log. Students may also be given a reading response or comprehension skill sheet for practice.

  2. Practice your math facts using flash cards, Xtra Math or Math is Fun for at least 5 - 10 minutes.. Students may also be given a math skills sheet.

  3. Study your spelling words for the week.  I already uploaded spelling games and quizzes to Learning A-Z to help you study.  You may choose an activity from the Spelling Choice Board if you don't have internet or a device.. Remember the phonics skill so that you can spell any word that uses this pattern.

When you dedicate only 20 minutes of your time to reading every day, it is estimated that you will get exposed to 1.8 million words yearly leading to increased general knowledge, communication and analytical skills, and you will obviously enrich your vocabulary substantially.

Practicing your basic math facts each day builds math fluency. Math fluency contributes to students' ability to solve more difficult problems quicker and more accurately. This in turn  leads to success in students' future mathematics courses and careers. builds confidence in students' math ability.

Spelling is important for many reasons including your ability to communicate and literacy. Spelling and reading skills are closely related and help develop overall literacy. More importantly, problems with spelling can alert teachers and parents to the presence of an un-diagnosed learning difficulty, such as dyslexia.
