My first 7th grade year is probably one of my most successful years of my life because I could finally join my school sports even though I sat out the whole football season. It made me sad that I waited a whole semester and made such a big hype about it and I didn’t even play. Also at the beginning of the year I promised my family that I would work as hard as I can to be good in track and basketball and will play play every minute till I win big. So that was my goal for the year to play and work hard to get better and to show GPISD and WAMS my name and what I can do. For the basketball season I went to all the pratices and busted my butt to be able to play all season, even though it had nearly been 4 years since I last played basketball I tried to get back to playing great again. I really thought the season was going to be good but it went down hill really quick, so we gave up. But after we lost the second game of the season Coach.Freeze held us back after the game and he said “ I dont know about you guys but I want to win. I see these teams that we should beat, tie, or lose by 1 point maximum. These teams run through ya’ll like it’s nothing. If you want to play good your can stay but if you don’t the door is open.” after that moment me and everyone else tried harder. Even though we lost the season and the district tournament we know we have a whole new year to get better and hit the ground running. After basketball season I took some time to pay more attention to my soccer career after 2 weeks of soccer the head coach announced that we have got invited to play in Mexico against some Mexican teams like Tigres and Villareal Mexico City. so I took a week off of school and went to Mexico where I discover that there are more teams better than usand play different and we had to adapt to their level of competition and skill. After we landed we had one day to tour and get our stuff situated till we had to get to work and start practicing. We got on the field and we felt like running 100 laps and coach saw us all pumped and told us to start stretching but before we do that he wanted us to run 1 lap around the small field. It was weird but we didn’t ask and we started to run. The field was about 20-30 feet long and 10 feet wide so we thought it would be easy but no even 10 seconds in we were tired by the time we finished we spent 5 minutes on one small lap. After the coach saw us he told us we were about 7,000 feet higher than we were back in Houston so the air was much more thinner making it harder to breathe so he made us do more conditioning than we ever did in our lives so we can get used to the air. After we did we worked as hard as our legs and lungs can go. Our first game was against the Tigres academy and we lost 5-1 after that game we realised the game was different here and the rules were different so we had another thing to adapt to. After another 2 days of practicing we played our last game against the team that had invited us to Mexico we were pumped up to play against another good team the games was finally on a normal field with some what normal rules. The game started good with us scoring first and them having a laugh and scoring 2 times back to back and we trailed behind tying the game making it 2-2. After half time everyone was tired and ready to quit except for me who was ready to kee running all day long. When the whistle blew for the start of the second we came out running hard scoring 2 more goals to gives us the lead to 4-2 win over the Villareal M.C. academy. After having a good week of conditioning and soccer I came back school and relized I missed the first track meet and had to start practicing for the next track meet. The day of the track meet I was scared that I would not be able to run cause I may not be used to the air but it was the opposite and I was able to run even longer and futher giving me the advantage and helping me win 1st in the 2,400 run and with that boost and help I got 2nd in the 1,600 relay and 3rd in the 400 dash. I kept practicing and kept winning ribbons only in the top 3rd places until I went to the district meet and won my teams respect by bringing a 1st place and 2nd place medal home with me. After school sports was done for the year I went back to soccer and won first place in my league and got invited to a high level tournament that only invites high level team to play we got robbed of a 3 point win after a fight broke out and the opposite team attacked us 2 times before and after the whistle blew we went on to get knocked out by technicality and left early with a feeling of revenge and willingness to return and win. After a year of excitement and adventure I am thankful and happy to have been able to experience everything.
