October Character Trait of the Month: Compassion and Tolerance
Students display compassion and tolerance toward one another in a multitude of ways.
Within my classroom, students practice compassion and tolerance by learning social skills that frame how we think and respond to others. Students are taught to recognize emotions and how they are expressed through facial expressions, tone, words, or body language. Doing so equips our students to self-reflect on their role in lending a helping hand to those in distress, or sharing joyful moments with loved ones.
Understanding individual differences and appreciating others for their values promotes tolerance.
September Character Trait of the Month: Citizenship and School Pride
Students are encouraged to model citizenship and display school pride within everyday aspects of their school campus and community involvement.
Within my classroom, students are prepared for success in citizenship by practicing mindfulness, participating in classroom discussions, promoting the well-being of all students, and supporting classmates in performing tasks.
School pride is practiced by modeling the Generals salute, wearing school attire, attendance, involvement in school community events, and following the school code of conduct.
