My Book Report
The Graveyard Book, the horror book written by Neil Gaiman, is pretty exciting. From a terrifying Sleer to the lost city of ghouls, the adventures of Nobody Owens get more mysterious. As Bod grows older, more and more problems get uncovered.
Bod, the main character, is adventurous and curious. He also likes books and finding new things. He really gets into a lot of trouble by snooping around, though. Bod started going outside of the graveyard and he got captured. He also even got into the city of ghouls, Ghŭlheim. Bod’s curiosity gets him into a lot of trouble. I also get into trouble, but not that much. But here, trouble creates adventures!
In the graveyard there’s many things to see. The graveyard is at the top of a hill in an unnamed town in Britain. It is the biggest graveyard in the old town. The Graveyard Book’s timeline must be set at around 1993 in the start because Bod is a toddler at the start and by the end of the book he is 15 years old. The Graveyard Book was written in 2008, so that means that at the start of the book it’s 1993 and at the end it’s 2008.
In the Graveyard Book, there is many problems like the Sleer, ghouls, and even a witch. The biggest conflict of the Graveyard Book is the problem of going into the outside world and being in danger by the man Jack. The man Jack is the man who killed Bod’s actual family; his mother, father, and older sister. The man Jack knows that Bod is alive, so he has been hunting him down for every day of his life since the night that he killed the rest of Bod’s family.
Even though this book is already pretty good on it’s own, I do have a few ideas I would like to add. What if the author made the city of Ghŭlheim unleash into the living world and all the ghouls tried to take everything over? Or maybe Bod kept his connection to the world of dead forever, even as he got older? These might actually be some pretty good ideas to add in the second book.
So in the end, I think many people should read this book because of all the adventures. This book actually ended pretty nice. The adventures of Nobody Owens extends from a witch, his vampire guardian, and many more. In conclusion, everyone should read the Graveyard Book.
