Adrian Galan’s Biography
Adrian Galan was born on December 29, 2006, at 11:27 pm in the East Houston Regional Medical Center in Houston, Texas. Adrian has a mom, a dad, four siblings and a sister-in-law. His mom has been teaching for twenty-five years. Adrian is extremely proud of her for winning the National Bilingual Teacher of the Year Award in 2014. Prior to her teaching career, she worked as a computer science engineer in Mexico. Adrian’s dad has had many jobs and now he’s retired.
Adrian attended Scroggins Elementary Magnet School in the Houston Independent School District until the end of third grade. While studying there, he was part of the Band, Dance and Art Programs. He learned to play the recorder and the electric bass guitar. He also learned to tap dance. One of Adrian’s paintings was chosen to be part of the Houston ISD Art Expo and as of today, it is still hanging at the Hattie Mae White Building in the Houston ISD Headquarters. For fourth grade, Adrian transferred to Cimarron Elementary School in Galena Park ISD where he entered the Encounters Program. Adrian was a part of the UIL Team (University Interscholastic League) and the Colts Running Club. In fifth grade at Harvard Elementary he continued being part of the Encounters Program, Robotics Team and competed in the Spelling Bee Contest and UIL Competition. Adrian also started taking violin classes at that time and has since participated in several violin and orchestra concerts. Middle school came around and he went to Cobb 6th grade campus. He started taking all Pre-AP classes, and he continued being part of the Encounters Program and decided to join the Cobb Choir. Being in the Choir taught him how to read music and sing. He performed at the North Shore High School Campus and at the San Jacinto College Fair. At Cobb, Adrian also played a game called flicker ball. (It’s like football but no tackling and you can’t move when you have the ball). At the same time, he joined the baseball program at Garden Villas Park advancing in a tournament and winning first place. Adrian was also nominated for a scholarship program called A.S.K. (Athletes Seeking Knowledge) and won the Citizenship Award. In the following year Adrian is in the seventh grade at Woodland Acres Middle School taking all Pre-AP classes and being part of the Encounters Program. In addition, he has joined the LOTC and STEM. He was invited by Duke University to take the ACT test as part of their Talent Search Program. He took the ACT in December, 2019. It was a valuable experience. He also was in a concert in the renaissance fair during the 7th grade as well.
This year Adrian is attending his last year at Woodland Acres Middle School since he is now in 8th grade. This year Adrian seems to be able do little to nothing for the activities outside of school.
Adrian joined the Gladiators T-Ball team at Garden Villas. He also started practicing Tae-Kwon-Do at the age of four. Then, while Adrian attended Scroggins ES, he played soccer, baseball, and basketball for his school’s team, The Mighty Bees. He was also part of the Boys Scouts at this time. At the age of seven, Adrian had the wonderful opportunity to accompany his mom overseas to study at Granada University in Spain. He got to learn about different cultures and their influences in the Arts. Later on, he had the opportunity to visit the Rice University and learn about the programs they offer. Adrian joined the Gladiators baseball team at Garden Villas Park where he continues to play as of today. Adrian also started practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Tae-Kwon-Do where he had reached the brown belt. Adrian’s favorite hobbies are playing with his dog, spending time with his family, playing video games with his friends, and building things.
