On a Wednesday morning, July 11th, 2007, with the sun brightly shining, Camila was born. At 8:52 am her parents, Mauricio and Waleska, happily welcomed her to the world. She was welcomed home by her two brothers, Christopher and Jonathan Olaya. But two years later, along came her sorta troublesome sister Laila Esquivel. She also recently got a dog, and her name is Luna.
As she grew up, she learned lots of things in school and about herself. She always did good in school, until she went to middle school. She enjoys the time she has at school with her friends and learning. She likes reading, which is why in elementary she was the top reader in her class. She participates in both school activities and competitions. In the 5th grade, she was the president of the Junior National Honor Society and Vice-President of the Student Council. She was also in the Honor Choir on campus and at the district level. She participated in the spelling bee and the prose and poetry contest in elementary, but didn’t win. Two years ago she won 3rd place in the campus science fair and 1st in the district science fair, but last year in 7th grade she won 2nd place in the campus and 2nd in the district science fair.
She enjoys lots of things, like playing sports and baking. But her all-time favorite thing to do is spend time with her family. Having barbecue’s on Sunday and Carne Asadas on people's birthday is always a joyful time for her while spending time with her cousins. She loves playing volleyball and is on her school's volleyball team. She is finishing basketball season at her school and is thinking about joining track. Sometimes she can get stressed out with balancing school with sports, but she really tries her hardest to achieve good grades.
She has lots of goals for her future: making the volleyball team in 9th grade, going to Baylor University to someday become a teacher, and getting recruited for a D-1 college volleyball team.
Although her life may be a little rocky at some points, she is a joyful, hardworking girl, who has goals and dreams. She is someone who loves her family and her friends and can’t wait to figure out what the future holds.
